What is a Possum Trot?! It's a town in Texas. What makes it so special? A very special story of Hope. Do I need to go there? No. Yet, we are going to highly, highly recommend you see this movie in the theaters. Why? Show support for great movies with wonderful messages of Hope. Sincerely, this movie should be nominated for multiple Academy Awards (best picture, best actor, best actress, best supporting actress, etc.). Will it be nominated? That'll be interesting. It checks a lot of boxes that Hollywood is striving to admire and recognize. This is a strong story about community leadership that solves some serious societal ills. Do black lives matter if they are Christian? And seriously loving and sacrificing for kids that have been grossly neglected? Absolutely to any common sense, rational human being. This will be a good test for Hollywood. When does it come out? July 4, 2024.
Side note, pictures are from a recent date adventure. In Ephesians 5:21, it opens up on the importance of a husband and wife submitting to each other. To each other! Yes, most versed knows the verse that follows yet how many know how it starts. The best relationships submit to (serve) one another. Case in point in movie, Donna was moved to adopt. WC wasn't sure at first. And Husbands, you even have a tougher, bigger challenge, "love your wife as Christ loved the church" (Eph 5:25). No other command holds someone to that high of a degree. The ultimate sacrifice and service. Most of you husbands need to step up (yes, still room for improvement here too)!
Back to submitting to one another, how often do you do something your spouse wants to do (morally of course)? Do you take turns? That would be a good place to start. Taking turns on choosing where you eat, watch, go. In this case, we got an invite to see a special screening on Possum Trot. We could have watched the movie in Rancho Mirage, CA. One spouse voted for that option as it is much closer to home. Yet the other spouse was hoping to brave unknown L.A./Orange traffic to this special screening in Irvine (CA) at the Irvine Improv. By an unlikely host (in our eyes) Adam Carolla. Why unlikely? He's an atheist. We think closer to an agnostic at least. He does rip on a lot! That's his deal. Rants! Yet in this case he was building up. Touched by the power of this movie and story. Intrigued by an outfit called Angel Studios and how they use crowd sourcing to make movies that Hollywood won't.
Super bonus, by doing the extra driving, we got to see some of the main characters, director, co-writer and actually meet Bishop WC Martin and his lovely and courageous wife Donna. So out of gratitude, we are promoting this work of art and amazing story.

Will you please support it? Support the theaters that show it? Show Hollywood that these movies and stories do matter. Thank you!
