A new religion has arisen. It is what we humans do best. We love to tell people what to do. Imposing our mandates on the rest.
Cancel culture is the calling. Talk like this and don't talk like that. You will respect their authority. You will apologize to them. You will bow to them. No mercy. No love. No forgiveness. No grace. They create their rules and their own Sharia police. Those that offend them, they will hunt them down. They will strike them with hate and shame. They will keep nailing people to proverbial crosses until there is no one else to blame. An endless quest for perfection.
They say they want human rights yet they deny others' rights. They say they love human life, yet they choose to take human life. They say they want racial harmony yet they tell you to shut up. They say there is no gender yet they say there should be gender equality. They say they put their faith into science yet reject that very science that defines females and males. Truth? As long as it is their Truth. Like many, they just really, really, really don't want to be wrong. Hence, they double and triple down. That is what a new religion does. Subjective over objective. Op-ed rules the news with agendas. Bias over facts. Selling only blue kool-aid or red kool-aid. Promising you this and promising you that. Propaganda and fear is the name of the game. People charging your credit cards and riding it into riches and fame.
Now, that may provoke you to anger (either side). Can you see the hypocrisies above? Do you hate religion yet see the parallels? We all want to be correct. If we are all flawed, how can we always be correct? The wise get that. Whichever spectrum you lean, there is always room for improvement. Whether you believe in the Bible or not, critique this and ask yourself does this sound like today?
3 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.
6 They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, 7 always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth. 8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these teachers oppose the truth. They are men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected. 9 But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone.
2 Timothy 3, written about 2,000 years ago.
Awake
I once woke up and now I'm awake. I see the Light. I see the Truth. As the Rev Dr. Martin Luther King stated, "Bitterness...Blinds". Truth sets people Free. Love is greatest of all. Social harmony rides on love, grace, mercy and forgiveness. I see it now with clarity.
Jesus says, Love God and love others (which means everybody). Those are our two greatest commandments. Every other rule/law hangs on those two. Imagine this world if we got that right. Our societal ills would be solved. Better yet, with Jesus in our hearts, we get eternity of utopia.
Truth, most don't want that. We are wired to be our own Gods. Make up our own rules. Wired to hate or at least be indifferent to Truth. Create our new religions. Whether you believe in the Bible or not, it tells us exactly that happened, happens and will happen. That's the Truth Ruth. Check it for yourself.
Heavenly Father, thank you for bringing clarity to what can be a very frustrating, lost, dark, hopeless, broken planet. Your plan is already set. It is written in your book that this has happened and will happen. Despite the persecution, may we find that peace in Phil 4: 6-8. The resolve promised in James 1. The wisdom of John 15:18. That instead of striking back in hate, we counter in Love of Jesus. The savior that I so desperately need. Despite my venting, I best turn my cheek, which is so hard when pride gets in the way. Despite my flaws exhibited, may this piece bring peace and better understanding for those called to see the Light. May we all realize that your Love is greatest of all. "Free at last, free at last, thank God almighty we are free at last." Amen
